Anna Liegl

Anna (Scavetta) Liegl, 92, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021 at her home. Anna was born on July 21, 1928 in Hartford to the late Marc Anthony and Rose (Loponte) Scavetta. She was married to the love of her life, Robert W. Liegl, for 70 years before his passing in 2019 and they will now be together in heaven.

Anna lived in and worked in Hartford for her entire life. She worked at CIGNA and Bulkeley High School. Anna was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. A devout Catholic, Anna faithfully prayed her rosary, in addition she prayed to St. Anthony and to St. Jude, always including her family and friends in her prayers. Her spirituality kept her strong and able to face any obstacles. Everyone enjoyed her delicious sauce and meatballs. One of Anna’s favorite things was watching the New York Yankees and UConn basketball. Anna loved spending time with her family and friends and going out to dinner and trips to the local casinos.

Anna is survived by her son; Robert W. Liegl Jr. and his wife Cathyann of Newington and her daughter Sandra Liegl of Wethersfield. She also leaves her grandsons whom she adored, Cory LaBreck, Michael Liegl and fiancé, Kalia Morin all from Rocky Hill, and sister Mary Silbo. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Vincent (Jimmy) and sister Florence.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield. (The Mass will be livestreamed via the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel Facebook page.) Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave. Hartford.
