Anthony Phillip LaPenta, 46, of Newington, passed away at Hartford Hospital on Friday March 17th, 2023. He will be missed greatly. He was the loving son of Michele (LaPenta) Whelahan and brother of Shannon Whelahan.
Anthony was incredibly loved by anyone who knew him, the phrase “He was a character” being an understatement to anyone he came in contact with. He was a master electrician and a hard worker with a selfless spirit. He was the proud godfather to Aubrey Lallier. His favorite activities were riding on his Harley, traveling and spending time with loved ones. He will be most remembered by his great work ethic and humorous demeanor.
He loved spending time with his cousins Eddie, Danny and Joey Lallier, with whom he had his greatest memories, they were some of his favorite people. He will be remembered for his precious time with his mother and sister which they will always hold dear. In a unique way, he showed love and he will be remembered for lovingly poking fun at his mother with his sister, one of their favorite pastimes, at their mother’s expense.
The memory of his Aunt Diane always yelling at him, “Anthony!” with her stern but loving demeanor will be cherished by everyone. She was one of his best friends and a treasured confidant.
He also loved his Aunt Sylvia for her incredible baking, her gentle voice and the loving way she always cared for him.
He will be missed by his uncles, Anthony (his godfather), Uncle Andrew “Buck”, Uncle Eddie and his great Uncle Lenny, all of whom always showed him love, support and guidance.
He had a kind heart that was always willing to help a friend in need. His presence will be missed indescribably to all who knew and had the pleasure of loving him.
The love he left and gave us during his life will be carried always within us. He now gets to rest easy with his favorite people of all, his late grandparents, Mickey and Anthony LaPenta with whom he is most likely sitting around the kitchen table and enjoying a drink, while they play cards.
The Funeral and Burial service in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the D’ Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield.
