

Anthony “Tony” J. Pizzoferrato, 92, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Virginia (Casale) Pizzoferrato, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2016. Born on May 2, 1923 in Pratola Peligna, province of Aquila, Italy, he was the son of the late Peter and Carmella (Mandozzi) Pizzoferrato. He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School and a proud U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a skilled draftsman, working for Merrow Machine for many years. He was a former member of the Sportsman Club of Hartford. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Virginia; three children, Peter Pizzoferrato and wife Cheryl of South Windsor, Philip Pizzoferrato and wife Diana of East Windsor and Joan P. Kane and husband John of Gloucester, MA; three adored grandsons, Christopher Kane, Timothy Kane and Peter Pizzoferrato and five cherished great-grandchildren. Tony is also survived by his brother, Attilio Pizzoferrato and wife Myra of Windsor, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Anthony J. Pizzoferrato, Jr. The procession will leave Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a. m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
