

Anthony Valorie, 102, of Hartford, husband of the late Anna (DiFonzo) Valorie, died Thursday (November 24, 2005) at a local convalescent home. Born in Palazzolo Acreide, province of Siracusa, Italy he lived in Lawrence, MA for many years. He was a retired barber who began his career at the age of 11 as an apprentice at his uncle's barbershop. He then lived in New York for many years before moving to Hartford. He worked at several barbershops in New York and Hartford before joining Professional Barber Shop on Trumbull St., Hartford in 1941. In 1983 he cut back his schedule to one day a week, eventually retiring in 1997. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Robert and Donna Valorie of Newington, grandchildren, Lynn Hansen and her husband Christopher of Hope Valley, RI, Tracy Valorie of New York, NY, Rob Valorie of Stamford, a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Hansen; two sisters and a brother, Ann Salustro and Rosalie Lombardo and Frank Valorie all of Wethersfield and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his sister, Mary DiPietro and brothers; Nicholas, Richard, John and Joseph. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the 2nd floor staff at Jefferson House, Newington. The funeral is Monday at 11:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in St. Luke's Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
