Anthony Vignone, 62, of Cromwell, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2017. Anthony was born in Hartford on April 10, 1955 and was the son of the late Anthony Vignone and Doris Pellegrini. Anthony was born with cerebral palsy and lived much of his life in group homes, but in spite of his disability he persevered. Anthony was a Yankees fan and he loved to wear his Yankee gear, especially among the many Red Sox fans at the home where resided. He also loved his stuffed animals. Anthony had a wonderful relationship with his mother and she loved him dearly. After she passed, if you whispered words to him about her, you could see a glimmer of recognition in his eyes and on his face. Anthony leaves behind his brother, Jim Vignone of Enfield, his sister Pat Shinkaruk and her husband Nick of Deerfield Beach Florida, his nieces Melanie, Amy, Beth, nephews Steven and Mike, his great-nephew Collin and great-nieces Emma and Ava. Special love and thanks to the wonderful support system at the Mansfield Training School for their care and training during Anthony's younger years and to the Shunpike Group Home where Anthony resided the remainder of his life. Their care and compassion was immeasurable. Memorial donations in Anthony's name can be made to ARC of Meriden/Wallingford, 210 Byron Road, Meriden, CT 06451 or Meriden Animal Control, 311 Murdock Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The D'Esopo Funeral Chapel of Wethersfield is assisting the family. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.desopo.com.
