Antonio Barberio

Antonio Barberio, 88, of Newington, beloved husband of the late Felipa Barberio, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2017. Born in Crucoli Catanzaro, Italy on October 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Francesco and Maria (Grispo) Barberio. Antonio was the owner of Barberio Fence Company. During his career, Antonio used his expertise in fence installation throughout the country and the world. Antonio was a life member of the Italian American Stars of Hartford and was an avid sports fan. Antonio enjoyed the company of his family and friends and he was truly loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his brothers, Giuseppe Barberio of Italy, Attilio Barberio and his wife Rina of Italy and Pasquale Barberio of Old Lyme; his sisters, Elizabeth Aparo and her husband John of Southington and Cathy Scalora and her husband Joe of Port St Lucie, FL. In addition, he leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to Riverside Healthcare for their compassionate care of Antonio.

Funeral service will begin Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 47 Clark St., New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
