

Antonio Freitas, 72, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Iberia (Andrade) Freitas for 48 years, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2017 with his family by his side. Antonio was born on September 24, 1945 in Santa Maria Azores, he was the son of the late Jose Sousa and Emilia (Chaves) Freitas. Antonio worked for Vulcan Radiator as a Machinist for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Portuguese Club in East Hartford. Antonio was a devoted husband and father, but nothing gave him more joy then the time spent with his grandchildren. Antonio adored them, he would spend as much time with them as he could, attending their activities, picking them up from school or just being at home, enjoying their company. In addition to his wife, he will be missed by son, Robert Freitas and his wife Elizabeth of Wethersfield, his grandchildren, Jack Freitas, Katherine Freitas and Colin Freitas. Antonio also leaves his sisters Maria Tavares and her husband Antonio of Hartford, Evangelina Chaves and her husband Jose of Hartford, Eleanor Carvalho and her husband John of Wethersfield and Isabel Braga of Wethersfield, his brothers Jose Freitas and his wife Maria of Newington, William Freitas and his wife Marianne of Lebanon, Zenalia and Joe Coute of Wethersfield and John Freitas and his wife Wladzia Freitas of Newington. Antonio also leaves his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him. Antonio was sadly predeceased by his son William Freitas. He was also predeceased by his in-laws, Manuel and Filomena Andrade, his nephew, Paul Chaves and his brothers-in-law David Braga, David Rego and Jose Chaves. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Kane Street, Hartford, CT 06106. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4-7 at the funeral chapel. Memorial donations in Antonio's memory can be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church.
