

Barbara Sanderson, 90, formerly of Wethersfield and Berlin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and meaningful connections with all who knew her.
Barbara was born on August 22, 1935, in Queens, New York, the beloved daughter of the late John Grant and Anna Grant. She spent her early years in Queens before meeting the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Sanderson. They married in 1956 and moved to Connecticut, where they built a beautiful life together. Barbara and Bob shared 64 years of marriage, a true testament to their deep love, commitment, and devotion to one another.
Barbara dedicated many years to raising her three daughters, Laurie, Debbie and Jennifer. She also loved her sons-in-law, Henry Frakl and Michael DiPrato. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her family and found the greatest joy in caring for those she loved. She remained closely involved in her daughter’s lives and was an active member of her community.
Barbara’s joy extended deeply into her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Christopher Frakl, Kaitlyn Frakl, Lynne DiPrato, Amanda Petruccelli, Leah Navin, Brenna Navin, and her cherished great-grandson, Cade Petruccelli, who brought her immense happiness.
Known for her warm smile, friendly personality, and gift for conversation, Barbara had a way of making everyone feel welcome. No matter where she went, people were drawn to her kindness, her stories, and her genuine interest in others. She leaves behind many friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Sanderson, and her sisters, Dolores Kohle and Marilyn Tatum. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Wethersfield Village Cemetery, 1 Marsh Street, Wethersfield.
