

Benedict A. Paparella, 93, of Wethersfield, passed away on May 4, 2023. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Louise (Tyndall) Paparella, his grandson Steven and great-granddaughter Eva Louise as well as his two sisters, Josephine Guastamacchio and Julia Ramsey. He was born January 10, 1930 and was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Mastrolucco) Paparella. He was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, Class of 1948. Ben served his country during the Korean War as a U.S. Army SSgt. He retired from the State of Connecticut Treasurer's Office as Cash Manager/Bank Control and later as Treasurer for the Connecticut Resource Recovery Authority. He lived in Wethersfield his entire life, enjoying his home, yard and vegetable garden. Ben was the definition of a gentle man and lived his life with honor and integrity. He enjoyed playing golf with his sons and buddies, winning twice in the Senior League for lowest score of the year. During his retirement, he enjoyed going to Florida and being with friends in West Palm Beach.
He is survived by his four children; Jeanne Dubin, Michael B. Paparella and his wife, Nancy, Richard A. Paparella, Alison Francis and her husband, Martin, his sister, Nicolina Giordano, six grandchildren; Cara, Elizabeth, Michael, Alicia, Jeffrey, and Sara; ten great-grandchildren; Mariah, Sadie, Connor, Avery, Griffin, Owen, Violet, Clara, Nicolas, and Charlotte; and a great-great-grandson, Jacari.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 10, at 9:00 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (formerly Corpus Christi Church), 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield with military honors. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 9, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
