Benjamin “Ben” Paul DeJohn, 65, of Rocky Hill, beloved spouse and best friend for 42 years of Carol (Florentino) DeJohn, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023 after bravely battling the effects of a stroke. Born in Hartford on November 18, 1958, he was the son of the late Benjamin P. DeJohn, Sr. and Teresa (DiPersio) DeJohn. Raised in Wethersfield, Ben was a 1977 graduate of Wethersfield High School. He was a prominent builder and developer, starting out with his brothers and father in DeJohn Builders. They eventually formed Rocky Hill Enterprises, a family owned and operated building and construction business. Ben was an avid snowmobiler. One of his favorite pastimes included working out in the trails alongside the Woodford Snobusters. Ben loved being a part of the Wilmington, VT community and spent many weekends there all year round.
In addition to his devoted wife Carol, Ben will be forever missed by his loving son, Mark and his wife Sarah and their two daughters, Nora and Vivienne of Canton, as well as his son, Christopher and his wife Kathleen and their son Leonardo of Ridgewood, NJ. Also mourning his loss is his brother, best friend and longtime business and golf partner, Gene DeJohn and his loving sister-in-law, Merilee; his mother-in-law, Madeline Florentino; his brother-in-law, Robert Florentino; sister-in-law Susan Longo and her husband Jason and his sister-in-law, Ann Marie DeJohn. Uncle Ben will be remembered by his many nephews and nieces, including Paul DeJohn, Michele DeJohn, Nick Florentino, Abigail Longo, Benjamin DeJohn and Hope DeJohn. In addition to his parents, Ben was predeceased by his brother, Paul DeJohn. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Gaylord Hospital for the care he received. We will greatly miss Ben’s sense of humor, sarcasm and ability to make others laugh in any situation.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, December 15 at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. James Church of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
