

Bernard G. ""Bernie"" Bartenstein, 76, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 55 years of June (Domenick) Bartenstein, died Sunday (April 22, 2012) at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 29, 1935 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Edward and Elvina (Majewski) Bartenstein and lived in Wethersfield most of his life. Bernie was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War from '54 to '56. He owned A&B Motors in Hartford for 53 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #9991, West Hartford and was a former member of the Wethersfield Country Club. In addition to his wife June, he is survived by three sons, Bernard G. Bartenstein, Jr. of Wethersfield, Daniel E. Bartenstein of Norwich and William D. Bartenstein and his fiancée Stacy of Newington; his daughter, Debra Bartenstein of San Leandro, CA; seven adored grandchildren, Bambi McKibbin and her husband Jason, Bernie, Robert, William, Nathan, Missy and Domenick Bartenstein; four cherished great-grandchildren, Elijah, Peyton, Zach and Mason; two brothers, William Bartenstein and his wife Gail of Hawaii and Ronald Bartenstein and his wife Linda of West Hartford; his sister, Beverly Edwards and her husband George of West Hartford and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (April 27) at 12 noon at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Calling hours will be Friday prior to the mass from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
