Carmela Cyr

Carmela (Maccarone) Cyr, 60, of Wethersfield, loving wife of 24 years to Bernard R. Cyr, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025. Born April 21, 1965 in St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, she was daughter to the late Tomasso and Maria Giuseppa (Carlone) Maccarone. Carmela attended Hartford Schools, graduating from South Catholic, class of 1984, after which she attended Stone Academy, where she learned Administrative Secretarial Services and over the lengthy years of service, she then transitioned to Worker’s Compensation Claims Adjusting with her current employer Mitchell, Genex. She enjoyed being a member of the Italian American Ladies Society. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband and family, as well as putting others and their needs before her own. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and making her great Italian cookies and other pastries in her free time.

Along with her husband Bernard, Carmela leaves her aunts, Teresa Maccarone of New Britain, Aquilina Maccarone of New Britain, and Teresa Carlone of Rocky Hill, as well as a large circle of extended family and close and very dear friends. In addition to her parents, Carmela was predeceased by her sister, Francesca “Franca” Maccarone. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Thursday, May 8, from 4-6 p.m. at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Carmela’s life will be Friday, May 9 at 11:30 a.m. directly in Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery (Section Y), 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made in Carmela’s memory in honor of her sister Francesca to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
