

Carmela (Uccello) Rossitto, 81, of Hartford, beloved wife for 63 years of Giuseppe Rossitto, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Born on December 15, 1936 in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa, Sicily, she was daughter of the late Sebastiano and Giuseppa (Petrolito) Uccello. Carmela’s greatest joy in life was caring, selflessly, for her husband, children and grandchildren, all of whom were invited to be at dinner every Sunday. Her garden was immaculate, the fragrance of her roses would fill the yard and her homegrown tomatoes were an indispensable ingredient in the unbelievable meals that she created. Her home was open to everyone and her caring spirit touched all those who met her. She also enjoyed being a member of the Daughters of Canicattini Bagni Society and the Saint Anthony Society. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Carmela will be forever missed by her devoted husband Giuseppe; three children, Sebastian Rossitto and wife Barbara of Wethersfield, Maria Paola Roberts and husband Bradford Walter of Hartford and Giuseppina “Josie” Caruso and husband Marco of Wethersfield and her five adored grandchildren who meant the world to her, Celenia Moscuzza, Joseph Rossitto, Kristina Caruso, Salvatore Caruso and Alessia Caruso. She is also survived by two brothers, Antonio Uccello of Wethersfield and Giuseppe Uccello and wife Frances of Colchester; one sister, Serafina Gaiangos and husband Gaetano of Wethersfield; sisters-in-law, Gina Uccello of Wethersfield, as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Italy, Arturo Rossitto and his wife Giuseppina and Itria Ucello along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, both here and in Italy. She was predeceased by two brothers, Paolo and Angelo Uccello, one sister, Michela Carbone, sisters-in-law Maria Rossitto, Carmela Rossitto, Giuseppina Rossitto, Dora Rossitto and brother-in-law Armando Rossitto. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Monday (May 14) at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday Morning from 9:00am-11:00am at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
