Carmen Andrea Luna (Sullivan) Grano was born on June 16, 1945 in Lima, Peru. It is with the saddest of hearts that her family announces her death on November 4, 2014. As a young woman, Carmen traveled throughout South America as a professional dancer, where she met her former husband, Capt. Joseph J. Grano, Jr. of the U.S. Green Berets. With him, she emigrated from Panama to Connecticut, where she gave birth to her daughters, Angela and Andrea. For over 20 years, Carmen worked as a food inspector for the State of Connecticut. After retiring, she attended the Culinary Institute to explore her love of exotic foods and cooking. As all her “gringa” friends can attest, Chica made the meanest ceviché in all the land. Carmen is survived by her first daughter, Patricia Peredo; her daughters, Angela and Andrea and the lights of her life, her grandchildren; Claudia, Julio Andrés, Joanie and Grace. Carmen’s wit, radiant smile, loving heart, timeless beauty and nurturing kindness will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Please join the family for a Memorial Service in her honor on Saturday November 8th at 12 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. For those unable to attend, please feel free to share a memory of Carmen at www.desopo.com.
