Carol Stephanie (Ford) Peckham, a lifetime resident of Wethersfield, entered a peaceful rest on Friday, March 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford on July 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Mary (Sobkiewicz). Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clayton Peckham who passed away less than a year ago. After 67 wonderful years of marriage, they are now finally reunited once again.
A devoting wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Carol will be forever cherished by her children, David Peckham and Kathleen Peckham; her three adored grandchildren, Madysen and Keagen Buckley and Abigail Peckham and two cherished great-grandchildren, Chance and Genesis. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family members and dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Jillian Peckham, as well as her sisters, Betty Pask (Bill) and Valerie Marchand (Gilles).
For years, you would find Carol on the sidelines of the UConn Women’s Basketball games cheering with enthusiasm, or gracefully skiing down the diamond trails of Magic Mountain with her friends and family. However, one of her greatest passions was golf – she was a determined and talented player, always eager for the next round. She was a proud member of the Red Jacket Club at Magic Mountain, the Red Hat Society, and various bridge clubs, embracing every opportunity to be active and social with family and friends.
Above all, Carol loved traveling the world with her husband Clayton, creating cherished memoires in every corner of the globe. She especially treasured their winters in Florida, where they enjoyed time with dear friends and soaked up the sunshine.
Carol’s kindness, warmth, and infectious laughter left a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered always. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Covenant Village for the wonderful care Carol received during her time there, and special thanks to Lorna from Home Instead for the compassionate care shown to Carol at the end of her life.
Family and friends are invited to a calling hour on Tuesday, March 18 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. concluding with a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
