Charles “Charlie” J. Stoppa, Jr., 82, of Jupiter, FL and formerly Windsor Locks and Newington, beloved husband for 57 years of Theresa (Roraback) Stoppa, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 13, 2026. Born in Hartford on July 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles J. Stoppa, Sr. and Genevieve Cataldo Clair. Charlie grew up in Hartford and was a proud graduate of Bulkeley High School, class of 1962. After graduation, he went on to serve four years with the United States Air Force. Charlie worked for CNG for 37 years, retiring in 2002 as a Distribution Supervisor. He also worked for NEGA testing and for Sargis Associates. Finally, at 75 years old, he hung it up for Florida. Charlie enjoyed coaching his son and daughter along with their teammates throughout grammar and high school, and when it was time for his grandsons to play, he happily supported them from the sidelines. Charlie always found an opportunity to mentor anyone he came into contact with throughout his life and will always be remembered for that.
In addition to his loving wife Theresa, Charlie will be forever missed by his two children, Chris Stoppa (Lori) and Melissa Hayes (Steve) and his adored grandsons, Charlie and Paul.
Calling hours will be Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., concluding with a Prayer Service at 12 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to the CT Children’s Foundation online at https://www.connecticutchildrensfoundation.org/
