

Charlotte Anne Perretta, 72, of Boston, died Friday April 10, 2015 in Connecticut. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Armando and Lois (Gubtil) Perretta. She received her A.B. degree from The College of St. Elizabeth in 1964 and her Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 1967. She began her career with the Massachusetts Defenders Committee and was in private practice for many years. Prior to her retirement she served as the first female justice on the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the intermediate appellate court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She was appointed to this position in 1978 by Governor Michael S. Dukakis. She stepped down from the court in October 2009. Justice Perretta was also a member of the adjunct faculty at New England School of Law for many years, where she taught trial practice. Justice Perretta is survived by her two brothers and sisters-in-law, James F. and Sheila Perretta of Avon and Michael A. and Katherine Perretta of Wallingford, her nephews, James Perretta and Daniel Perretta, her niece, Beth Krane and two great nephews and a great niece. The funeral is Wednesday April 22, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 600 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday (April 21, 2015) from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
