Concepcion Cortez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Concepcion Cortez Martinez, 86, of Hartford. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, Concepcion passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2025.

Born to Carmelo Martinez and Juana Rodriguez on June 7, 1938 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, Concepcion was known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She loved red roses and was an excellent cook. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Concepcion was predeceased by her son, Angel Jimenez. She will be deeply missed by her husband of over 60 years, Carlos Santiago Cortez of Hartford; her children, Guillermo “Papo” Jimenez of Puerto Rico, Luis Alberto Jimenez of Puerto Rico, Elba Cortez of Puerto Rico, Nora Rojas and her husband Walter of Hartford, Maria Ortiz of Hartford, Carlos Cortez of Hartford, Leonardo Cortez and his wife Katherine of East Hartford and Jose Luis Cortez of Hartford, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calling hours for family members only will be Friday, January 31 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. concluding with a Prayer Service at 1:30 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
