Concettina was born on April 12,1928 in Canicattini Bagni,(PR) SR Italy, and was the beloved daughter of the late Paolo and Santa (Bordonaro) Zocco. Concettina immigrated to the United States in 1955 with her family in pursuit of the American dream, beginning her journey working at Connecticut Spring & Stampings along side her fellow “paesani”, then moving onto Underwood Typewriter Company, and finally Aetna Insurance until her retirement. Concettina was a bright and talented woman, excelling in everything she did, there was nothing she could not do. She had hands of gold, creating beautiful hand embroidered linens, clothing, and knitted garments. Sewing was her passion, in addition to baking, she would think nothing of getting a 5lb bag of flour and make homemade bread, pizza and or Scacciate at a drop of a hat. Her delicious “S” cookies and cassattini loved and enjoyed by everyone. She enjoyed traveling , dancing and socializing with family and friends, and was a longtime member of The Women’s Canicattinese Society.
Most of all, Concettina loved spending time with her family, her loving husband Nino of 72 years who predeceased her only 4 months ago, leaving her heartbroken, and beloved daughters Tina and Sandy. She was sadly predeceased by her first born son Salvatore, brothers Antonino, Sebastiano (Vincenzina), brothers/sisters in law, Giuseppe (Bice), Paolo (Francesca) Panebianco, and niece Tina Panebianco.
