Diane Edith (Meade) Pizzoferrato

Diane Edith (Meade) Pizzoferrato, (76), of Newington, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at The New McLean in Simsbury. She was born December 15, 1938 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and (Edith Bradley) Meade. She was formerly employed by the Town of Newington having retired with many years of dedicated service, first working as a school bus driver and then as a secretary at Newington High School. She was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Mary's Parish, Newington and later attended St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church, Hartford, where she was a member of their Lady's Guild. Diane loved traveling, theatre, Jazzercise, trips to the beach - as long as it involved time spent with friends and family. Before retiring, she enjoyed her long awaited trip to Italy and Ireland. Diane was a deeply caring person who was devoted and loyal. She often went out of her way to help those in need - spending time with those who were homebound. She was diligent about staying in contact with family and friends, no matter how near or far - always sending cards, writing notes and reaching out to others. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sister Elaine McGee of St Augustine, FL and her husband Robert, a son, Stephen Pizzoferrato of Simsbury, her daughter Andrea Quinn and her husband Timothy of Waxhaw, NC; four adoring grandchildren, Timothy, Bailey, Amelia and Mae Claire, and her daughter Barbara Pizzoferrato of Newington along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Wesley Meade. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the care, love and compassion shown to Diane by all of the staff at The New McLean, Unit 4 and Hospice Care. Calling hours are Saturday, December 12th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick St Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford. The burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, 679 Willard Ave, Newington.
