

Dominic A. Maradie, 92, of West Hartford and Highland Beach, FL, beloved husband of Marie (Cacase) Maradie for 60 years, passed away peacefully, Monday (October 21, 2013) surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford on November 18, 1920, he was the son of the late Carmen and Marie (Armentano) Maradie. He graduated from St. Peter’s School, Hartford Public High School and Morse School of Business, formerly Merchant and Bankers Business College. Dom was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked 30 years at the Newington Veterans Hospital as a Chief Medical Administrative Officer. He co-owned and operated the Beckley Garden Inn from 1959 to 1964 where he was a musician, playing the accordion, and the leader of his own band. An avid golfer, Dom was a longtime member of Rockledge Country Club and several golf courses in Florida. He was a member of the American Legion and The Allyn Club. Dom was an avid New York Yankee fan. He spent countless afternoons with his second family at the New Britain Winners Club, where he was a “handicapper” and also spent countless winters with his treasured friends and family of Penthouse Highlands. In addition to his loving wife Marie, he will be dearly missed by his three devoted daughters, Joan M. Maradie, Donna M. Maradie and Gloria M. Reddy and husband Mike, all of West Hartford; three adored grandchildren, Michael J. Reddy, Katie M. Reddy and Lisa R. Reddy and his daily crossword puzzle partner, Toby Marranzini, who referred to Dom as “The Professor” as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, James and Anthony Maradie and sisters, Eleanor Nesko and Anne Maradie.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. There will not be any calling hours.
