Donato Gherardi

Born on August 7, 1937, in Sepino, Italy, Donato immigrated to the United States, where he became a proud American citizen. He dedicated over 50 years to Eversource, taking great pride in his work while providing for his family. He was the embodiment of hard work, perseverance and the pursuit of the American Dream.

A beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Donato leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his brother Giovanni (Betina) Gherardi of Germany, sister-in-law Philomena Bellizzi, sons Francesco (LuAnne) Gherardi, Lucio Gherardi and Giovanni ‘John’ (Luisa) Gherardi. He was also a proud grandfather to Danielle (Casey) Tabacco, Michelle (Christopher) Zdrok and Flavia (Aaron) Gherardi McGinty. His great grandchildren; Giovanni and Siena Tabacco, Vanessa, Christian and Damian Zdrok and James McGinty, will forever remember him with love.

Donato was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rafaella and his parents, Francesco and Lucia.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Theresa, a dear friend who went above and beyond in her support, as well as to Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice, especially his care team – Scott, Dina and Terry – for their compassionate care during his final days.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, CT 06109. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Children's Foundation or a charity of your choice in his memory.
