

Edward N. Martocchio, 96, of Emeritus Assisted Living, Rocky Hill, formerly a fifty-year resident of Collimore Road, East Hartford, husband of the late Ida (Fargnoli) Martocchio, died peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday (February 25, 2009). Born in Hartford, he was the son of John and Vincenza (Colantonio) Martocchio. He retired in 1978 from Gerber Scientific after many years of service. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family, working in the yard and seeing the plants and flowers come alive in the spring and summer, bowling, and in the last few years playing poker with his family as often as possible (and usually winning). He is survived by his two daughters Cynthia Keyes and her husband Gordon Scallion of West Chesterfield, NH and Camille Lavery of Cromwell; a daughter-in-law Loretta Martocchio of Enfield; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Theodore Martocchio; his son-in-law James Lavery; his granddaughter Karin Lavery Previti and three brothers and a sister: Harry, Albert, Anthony and Rose Champa. The family would like to extend special thanks to Emeritus Assisted Living for the dedicated care and attention provided, and to Joseph Sceratto for many hours of card playing and trips to New Hampshire throughout the last several years. The funeral is Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine's Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday morning from 9-10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
