

Edward A. Wilcox, 90, died on June 7, 2015 in Miami, FL. Ed brought joy, laughter and lively conversation wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ed grew up in Hartford's South End as the eldest child of Stephanie Paris (Stella) and Joseph A. Wilcox. He was the beloved big brother to four siblings, Joseph ""Tubby"" Wilcox, Eleanor Wilcox, Barbara Madler, and Mary DeMaio. He graduated from Bulkeley High School, and went on to join the U.S. Navy, where he served on the submarine U.S.S. Bugara in WWII as a baker and machine gun operator. Ed settled in Wethersfield where he used his people-skills in his career as a sales rep for a number of companies including Beechnut, Gerber Foods and Grote & Wiegle Meats. Ed was married to Betty (Coroso) for 35 years, with whom he raised four children, Edward, Jeffrey, Merry Joy, and Lori (Wilcox) Dieli. He was past President of the Wethersfield Exchange and a member of the Wethersfield Country Club. With his second wife, Barbara (Waitkus), Ed traveled between Florida and Old Saybrook, enjoying retirement with lots of gardening and time on the water, and second family; Janie and Dave Pugliese, Kathy and Ted Rahmann and their children. In recent years, Ed lived in Surfside, FL with his partner Angela Hart, cooking great food, cracking jokes, following the news, and his UConn Women's Basketball, tending their pets and gardening. He is survived by his sister, Mary; children, Ed and Lori; his eight grandchildren, Alina, Alyssa, Angelica, and James Dieli, Tyler Wilcox Doherty, Samantha Dynowski, Jesse Lycke, and Andrew Wilcox; four great grandchildren, David, Ingrid, and Nora Dynowski and Jesse Lycke and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Ed was predeceased by his first wife, Betty; his second wife, Barbara; his son, Jeffrey and his daughter, Merry Joy. Graveside service with military honors will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Section 24, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill.
