Elaine Catherine Motta, 57, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife of Tatjana (Guilbeault) Homich, passed away at home on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Born in Hartford on April 20, 1967, she was the loving daughter of Lorraine Motta-Maccarone. Elaine grew up in Rocky Hill and earned her bachelor's degree from American International College in Springfield, MA. Elaine worked as a social worker for the State of Connecticut for many years before needing to leave due to an uncorrectable spinal cord condition, which required many surgeries and constant care over the years.
Elaine was active in her youth, playing soccer and softball and proudly being one of the first girls to play Little League Baseball in Rocky Hill. She received many Scuba certifications, which allowed her to be underwater and free of limitations set by her condition.
Elaine had an enormous love and passion for animals as you could tell by her license plate “ANM-LVR.” Over the years, Elaine had too many dogs and cats to count, but one of her most beloved animals was her service dog Rudy who was always by her side for 10 years through all her surgeries and recoveries.
In addition to her wife and mother, Elaine will be forever missed by her sister, Michele Motta (Joe Calabro) of Cheshire and her two nephews, Daniel Schena of Stamford and Benjamin Schena of Danvers, MA. When she was still able, they went fishing, they golfed, and did other “things” that only an aunt could get away with. She was proud of all their accomplishments and loved them as if they were her own.
The family would like to thank Zofia Kopczyk, Jeannie Braga, and Nina Rodriguez who took exceptional care of Elaine this past year.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to Protectors of Animals, 144 Main St., Unit O, East Hartford, CT 06118 or NEADS World Class Service Dogs, P.O. Box 1100, Princeton, MA 01541.
