Elena Danielle Boyle, 42, of Somers, Connecticut, beloved daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Burns) Boyle, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. She was born in Fairfax, Virginia on February 19, 1983. Elena faced many challenges in her life, but she always had a sunny, sweet disposition. Her personality was truly memorable. Anyone whose life she touched, over the course of her own highly active life, invariably had a most-loved “Elena-ism” to share and smile about. For her part, Elena, who got along with everyone, definitely had her favorite people in her life. She clearly was beyond excited upon her mom’s arrival for the innumerable visits and outings they had together. However, her heroes were without a doubt her Dad and her brother, whose hands she only very reluctantly let go of, at every parting. There were many blessings of opportunities, such as swim therapy sessions, which were scheduled simultaneously with her dad’s. She also endured the challenging moments of confusion and tears when even sibling hugs were off-limits during the pandemic.
Puzzles and sensory objects were her go-to sources of relaxation, as she enjoyed the mental enrichment they offered. Easy-going, Elena loved being read to, watching movies with her housemates and home staff, and was especially happy when the music therapist arrived. Always ready for an excursion, whether to her day program, the mall, bowling, a party, a fair, a vacation, or just a nice walk in the company of others, Elena looked forward to getting her hair styled with care, putting on her jewelry, and getting dressed-up in the latest fashion to go out. Most of all, she loved meal time and going out to eat.
Even in light of the peace Elena’s spirit has found in the tight eternal embrace of her cherished parents, she still will be forever missed by her brother and sister-in-law, James (Jamie) and Andrea Boyle of Wethersfield and her niece Katherine. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, classmates, as well as her loving family of staff and housemates, all of whom have been indelibly touched by her charm.
Elena’s legacy includes the gift of life she was able to share. Elena saved the lives of a woman in her forties, who received the gift of her liver; a man in his sixties, who received her lungs; a man in his forties, and another in his thirties. who received her kidneys. May God bless them all with a long and full life. Our most sincere thanks to the entire staff at New England Donor Services (neds.org), for their guidance and compassion shown toward Elena and our family.
