

Elisabeth H. “Libby” Fippinger, 84, of Wethersfield, died June 15, 2016 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Libby was born December 15, 1931 in Toronto, Ontario Canada the daughter of Frederick E. and Harriett N. Haenel; granddaughter of Luigi Von Kunits, founding conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. She was married April 30, 1966 in Wethersfield to her loving husband of 50 years, Richard T. Fippinger. Libby attended Loretto Abbey Catholic Secondary School in Toronto and went on to graduate from New Milford High School in New Milford, Connecticut. She earned undergraduate degrees from the Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Colorado and The University of Connecticut in Storrs, where she majored in journalism. Libby was first employed as a reporter for the New Milford Times and then continued her early business career with the advertising firm of Wilson, Haight & Welch in Hartford. She finished her career as Office Manager for Luchini, Milfort & Goodell, a Wethersfield architectural and engineering firm, where she retired from in 2004. Libby was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ in Wethersfield and an active member of the Pine Acres Swim and Tennis Club for many years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed volunteering her time for the gift shop at the Institute of Living in Hartford. Libby was also a past president of the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed many family vacations to her favorite spot on earth, Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine. She is survived by her husband, Richard; son and daughter in-law, Karl F. and Kimberly C. Fippinger of Manassas, Virginia; and three grandchildren, Liam Patrick, Sean Patrick and Hailey Elizabeth Fippinger, also of Manassas, Virginia.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street, Wethersfield followed by interment at the Village Cemetery, also in Wethersfield. The family will receive guests at a short reception to be held at the First Church of Christ immediately following interment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Elisabeth H.
