Elizabeth Betty Barbieri (Cavallaro)

Elizabeth ""Betty"" (Cavallaro) Barbieri, 85, of East Hartford, wife of the late Gaetano ""John"" Barbieri, died Wednesday (May 18, 2011) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni ""John"" and Pauline (Gilberto) Cavallaro and lived in Hartford for many years prior to moving to East Hartford 24 years ago. Betty was a member of South End Ladies Democratic Club in Hartford for many years. She is survived by four children; two sons, John Barbieri of Sarasota, FL, Chris Barbieri and his wife Patty of Manchester, two daughters, Paula Pouliot and her husband Tom of Enfield, Jo-Ann Barbieri with whom Betty made her home in East Hartford; five grandchildren, Michele, David, Jennifer, Allison and Jessica; her sister-in-law and family, Lucy Ronzello of Palm Springs, CA.; and many other extended family members among them her two dearest friends, Connie Natale and Pippi Bruno. She was predeceased by sister, Mary D'Angona and her dear friend Rose Valenti. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Santo Buccheri and his wonderful staff. The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick–St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St. Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
