Fausta P. Luiz

Fausta P. (Leopoldino) Luiz, 87, beloved wife of Joseph G Luiz, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 28, 2023. Fausta was born in Malhou, Portugal on August 23, 1936, daughter of the late Felix and Maria (Santos) Leopoldino.

Fausta was an extremely dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend, always available and willing to help. She loved spending time with her family whom she was exceptionally proud of.

Fausta graduated from Hartford High School in 1955 and excelled in both academics and sports. In addition to raising her family, Fausta worked at Newington Children’s Hospital for 20 years. She was an avid volunteer serving in many organizations including the WAABI volunteer group (President), St. Agnes Church Women’s Club (Treasurer) and Giants Neck Beach Association. She loved living at the shore, playing cards with her family and friends, and spending time with them on the beach.

In addition to her loving, devoted husband of 66 years, she will be dearly missed by her children, LouAnn (John) Campanello, Robert (Tammy) Luiz and Gary (Kimberly) Luiz, her grandchildren Lindsay (Tim), Jamie (Christopher), Sara (Joey), Joseph, Jimmy, Casey (Nick), Mackenzie (Jake), Chelsea, her four great grandchildren Taylor, Brayden, Cody, Jade and two more on the way. She is also survived by her deeply dedicated and favorite brother Felix (Eileen), her nephew Mark (Kristin), her niece Denise and their families, her cousins Jose Manuel (Etelvina) and Maria Candida. Fausta was predeceased by her cherished son, James.

Fausta’s family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Pat Soucy, for the excellent care provided during her last years.

Her family asks that any memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice. Important causes to the family include heart disease, Parkinson’s and CDKL5.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, September 5 from 4-7 pm at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield. Funeral services will begin at the Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 6 at 9:00 am followed by a Holy Mass at 10:00 am at Christ the King Parish, Church of The Incarnation, 544 Prospect St, Wethersfield, CT.
