Fortunata ""Florence"" (Granato) Intravia, 98, of Rocky Hill and formerly of East Hartford passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2016 with her sons by her side. Born and raised on September 22, 1918 in Hartford's Front Street, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Vincenzina (Neglia) Granato. Florence had many fond childhood memories of life at her family's business: the Hartford Macaroni Company and summers spent at the shore in Westbrook, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Sebastian A ""Micky"" Intravia for over 60 years. Actively involved in her local community, Florence served as president of the Italian Ladies Club, and worked as a manager at the Internal Revenue Service. Florence was gifted in the kitchen and could turn any meal into an unforgettable occasion. She loved painting, politics, vacationing in Florida, her family, and did we mention her fondness for FOX news? Florence had an audacious spirit, and was not only a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt; but also a best friend to those who loved her. She will be missed terribly. She is survived by her sons, Robert and James; her daughter-in-law, Catherine; her grandchildren Kathleen Kocatas and her husband Reha; Paul Intravia and his wife Lisa; Lauren and Jessica Intravia, as well as four great grandchildren; Alexei, Julien, Luca and Natalie. She is also survived by her devoted nieces Virgina Carpino and Maryanne Granato who were like daughters to her, and her nephew Joseph Granato. Florence was predeceased by many loving family members: her husband, parents, brother and sister-in- law, Joseph and Laura Granato; and many adored cousins and friends. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 22 at 11:30 am at St. Christopher's Church 538 Brewer St East Hartford, CT. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call Friday morning prior to the Mass, from 8:30-10:30am at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield.
