Frank Zimmerman

Dr. Frank Zimmerman, Jr. died Friday (October 23, 2009). He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Madeline Zimmerman and a son Frank Zimmerman, III. He was born and raised in Hartford. He attended local schools and graduated from Bulkeley High School. He received his B.S. from Trinity College and did graduate studies at Columbia Dental School in New York. He received his dental degree from the University of Detroit in Detroit, MI. As an Air Force cadet in World War II, he attended Wittenberg College in Springfield, OH. During World War II, he flew numerous missions over occupied Europe. Frank leaves his wife, Greta Zimmerman; and a daughter Gretchen Zimmerman of Wethersfield and his two Golden Retrievers 'The Boys', whom he loved dearly. Funeral services and burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association -CT Chapter, 5 Brookside Drive, P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492 or the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
