

George Provera, 95, of West Hartford, beloved husband for 70 years of Anne (Crivellone) Provera, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Hartford on April 25, 1930, he was the son of the late Peter and Marjorie (Giovo) Provera. George proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. George was the proprietor of the French Bakery in Hartford, along with his nephew, John Provera. He enjoyed boating and was a self-taught pilot, flying single engine planes. He was also a longtime avid fan of the New York Yankees.
In addition to his devoted wife Anne, George will be forever missed by his three children, George Provera, Jr. and wife Denise, Jeanne Swayner and Jo-Anne Provera and wife Kim Fury; five adored grandsons, Nicholas Provera and wife Megan, Douglas Provera and wife Ashlee, John Swayner and wife Kristina, Matthew Swayner and wife Lauren and Lucas Provera and wife Mikayla, and seven cherished great-grandchildren, Caden Provera, Gemma Provera, Cora Swayner, Sedona Swayner, Liam Provera, Jacob Swayner and Dalton Swayner. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Mann; his brother-in-law, Anthony Crivellone and wife Corinne, as well as many nieces and nephews, among them his business partner, close friend and special nephew John Provera and wife Tina. George was predeceased by his brother, Aldo Provera and his sister, Ann Costello.

Calling hours will be Friday, December 5 from 9:30-11 a.m. concluding with a Chapel Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
