Gilda (vasquez) Sullo

Gilda (Vasquez) Sullo, 65, of Newington, formerly of Hartford, loving wife of the late Michael Sullo, Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2009. She was born June 29, 1944 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Rose (Infanto) Vasquez. Gilda was formerly employed by the State of Connecticut, most recently at the State Capitol Legislative Office. She was a member of the South End Ladies Democratic Club. Gilda had an innate ability to entertain and a special talent for cooking. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and many dear and close friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Sullo, III. She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa S. Meredith and her husband, Robert J. Meredith of Wethersfield; grandchildren, Alexandra and Joseph Meredith; a sister, Norma Muzzy of Hartford; a sister-in-law, Mary Anne Jankowski and her husband, Leo of Newington as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff at Hartford Hospital for their attentive care. Funeral service will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. The burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
