Giuseppina Matarazzo

Giuseppina Matarazzo (Lenares), 91, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late Paolo Matarazzo, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Giuseppina was born on June 7, 1927 in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Paolo and Giuseppa (Fazzino) Leneras. A skilled seamstress she owned and operated Joe’s Fashions of Hartford. Giuseppina was a wonderful cook, her homemade pizza and eggplant will never be matched. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Giuseppina will be missed by her sons, Paul S. Matarazzo and his wife Grace of South Windsor, Joe Matarazzo and his wife Janet of South Windsor, and her daughter Michelle M. Matarazzo. She leaves her cherished grandchildren, Josie and Timothy O’Neill, Melissa Matarazzo, Christine Matarazzo, Paul Matarazzo and his girlfriend Malleri Acevedo, her great grandchildren Paul and Melina O’Neill. She leaves her brothers Rosario Lenares and his wife Lina of East Windsor and Michael Lenares and his wife Cindy of E. Longmeadow, MA., sisters-in-law Rosa Lenares and Elena Matarazzo. In addition she leaves several beloved nieces and nephews along with many dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Giuseppina was predeceased by her brothers Salvatore Lenares and his wife Concetta and Corrado Lenares, her brothers-in-law Santo Matarazzo and his wife Maria, Sebastiano Matarazzo and Giuseppe Matarazzo. The family would like to thank Giuseppina’s nurse, Amy and her care givers Andrea and Ashley for their kindness and compassion.

Funeral services will leave on Wednesday, June 27th at 9:00 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Junipero Serra Parish (St. Margaret Mary Church) 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
