Ines Giansiracusa

Ines (Santilli) Giansiracusa, 91, of Hartford, loving wife of 60 years of the late Luigi Gino Giansiracusa, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at her home with her caring family by her side. Born in Pratola Peligna, province of L’Aquila, Italy on May 4, 1933, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Antoinetta (Gualtieri) Santilli, she had been a resident of Hartford for the past 75 years. Prior to her retirement, Ines started her career as a seamstress at Coracci & Sons where she met her husband, the love of her life. They later went on to open their own business, Gino Fashion’s in Hartford for many successful years.

A devout catholic, Ines was a longtime faithful and active communicant of the former St. Luke Church in Hartford and more recently of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield. Ines was a very generous woman who supported many catholic organizations, especially the Padre Pio Foundation of America. Proud of her Italian heritage and traditions, she was a wonderful cook and baker who was known for her pizzelles, gnocchi, and polenta. She would often be listening to music in her home, singing and dancing around her kitchen and living room. Ines was a homebody who loved the holidays, and having her grandchildren come over to visit and talk for hours while having a cup of coffee or espresso with a biscotti or two. She was an avid, loyal fan of Italian soccer following Inter and Juventus with her husband and grandchildren. Most of all, she was a “people person” who loved people more and more while always being the proud, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother never afraid of boasting about her entire family.

Ines is survived by a son, Roberto S. Giansiracusa and his wife Paula of Wethersfield; three daughters, Luciana Marinelli and her husband George of Rocky Hill, Gina Giansiracusa and her partner Sebastian of Rocky Hill, Rosanna Santilli and her husband Rocco of Wethersfield; eleven cherished grandchildren, Vanessa Gonzalez and her husband Marcel of Marlborough, Marco Marinelli and his wife Brianna of Berlin, Rosanna Karabetsos of Rocky Hill, Giulia Tarascio and her husband JP of Rocky Hill, Sofia Giansiracusa and her fiancé Sean Keleher of Wethersfield, Theodore Karabetsos of Rocky Hill, Nico Karabetsos of Rocky Hill, Tia Giansiracusa of Wethersfield, Brianna Santilli of Los Angeles, CA, Gino Santilli of Wethersfield, Ava Giansiracusa of Wethersfield; three adored great-grandchildren, Anthony and Jordan Gonzalez both of Marlborough, and Mateo Marinelli of Berlin. She also leaves a sister, Ivana Cieri of Wethersfield; a sister-in-law, Nella Giansiracusa of Melbourne, Australia; several nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, former customers, and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Ines was predeceased by two sisters, Tersicore “Terzina” DellaFiore and Armida Pace both of Wethersfield.

Funeral service will be Tuesday (December 31st) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Entombment will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery (Mausoleum), Bloomfield. Her family requests that everyone go directly to the church on Tuesday morning. Relatives and friends may call at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield on Monday (December 30th) from 4 -7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ines’s name may be made to the Padre Pio Foundation of America, 463 Main Street, Cromwell, CT 06416.
