

Isabella ""Subby"" R. LaTorre, 92, of Hartford, formerly of Campfield Avenue, beloved daughter of the late Michael and Concetta (Marello) LaTorre, passed away on Friday, (April 6, 2007) at the Hughes Health and Rehabilitation Center, West Hartford, after a long illness. She was born in Hartford on November 11, 1914. She was a long-time communicant and parishioner of St. Augustine Church in Hartford and was a member of the following organizations: President of the Rosary Society, Children's Benefit Club of St. Augustine School, and the Women's Club. She was also a Professed member of the Lay Third Order Carmelite Community of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She was very active in the community at large and numerous religious and charitable organizations. In recognition of her 90th birthday and her tireless efforts on behalf of the Democratic Party, Thursday, November 11, 2004 was proclaimed ""Isabella LaTorre Day"" in the City of Hartford by the Honorable Eddie A. Perez, Mayor, and she was recognized by the State of CT, General Assembly on October 24, 2004 for her 40 years as a premiere volunteer for the Democratic Party in the South End of Hartford. Subby is survived by her loving brother Antonio LaTorre of California; her loving sister-in-law, Ann LaTorre of East Hartford; her dear nieces, Jo Ann LaTorre of East Hartford and Christine Gaylish of Texas; her loving nephews, Peter and his wife Nancy LaTorre of California, Daniel and his wife Dana LaTorre of Wyoming, Michael LaTorre and his wife Brenda of Manchester and Ricky LaTorre and his wife Jodi of East Hartford; and her loving Godchildren, Sheryl A. Enzor of West Hartford and Linda M. Enzor of New Jersey. She is also survived by many cousins, great nieces and nephews and beloved friends. Subby was predeceased by her loving brothers Peter, Nicholas ""the Chicken Man"", Joseph and Daniel LaTorre, and her sister-in-law, Isabel ""Bel"" LaTorre. Subby's family and her godchildren wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Hughes Health and Rehabilitation Center for all of the love and compassionate care given to her during these past years. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford.
