James L. Amodio

James L. Amodio, 95, of Middletown, formerly of Wethersfield and Port Charlotte, FL, husband of the late Madeleine Dunlay-Amodio, died Wednesday, (April 4, 2012) at Wadsworth Glen, Middletown. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Angelina (Salemi) Amodio and lived in Wethersfield for many years. James was especially proud of his service in the U.S. Army for 58 months during World War II. He was the owner of Park Del in Middletown and retired to Florida in the late 1970's. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, especially the New York Yankees, the Boston Celtics and the UConn basketball teams, and thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of Sherlock, his grand-dog. He was a member of the Young Italians. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Holly Amodio of Glastonbury; his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Harold Bannon of Rocky Hill; and many devoted nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie A. (Tammaro) Amodio; his sisters, Carmela ""Millie"" Christadore and Antoinette Buccheri; and an infant brother. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Carmella Gagnon and her entire staff at Heritage Commons in Middletown as well as the staff on the 2nd and 3rd floor at Wadsworth Glen, especially, the Therapy Department.

The funeral will be Thursday, April 12 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is invited to go directly to church. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
