James William Monaghan, 67, of Wethersfield, died suddenly Wednesday (July 4, 2012) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late James J. and Ruth (Muskwit) Monaghan. He was educated in Wethersfield schools and graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania Military College. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, he served with the 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion in Korea during the Vietnam era. He was active for many years in the VFW, serving in many offices including Post Commander of Post 4740 Windsor and Post 2138 Rocky Hill. He leaves his children, daughter Sandra Cobb and her husband Roy and their children; Tyler, Jacob and Mira of Preston, GA; son Michael and grandson Hunter of West Hartford and a special friend, Kim Hushak of Wethersfield. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara.
