It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived that the Morgan family announces the passing of Jane Elizabeth (Jager) Morgan, 74, of Wethersfield, who peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.
Jane was born in Stadskanaal, Groningen, Holland, to the late Jan and Bertha (van der Horst) Jager. After marrying the love of her life, William Douglas “Doug” Morgan, she immigrated to the United States in 1974. Jane and Doug shared 34 wonderful years of marriage and built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family. Together, they owned and operated Winding Brook Turf Farm in Wethersfield, a legacy proudly carried on today by their three sons as third-generation owners.
Jane devoted her life to her family, creating a home that was always warm, welcoming, and filled with love. She was beautiful inside and out, known for her bright smile, kind heart and the way she made everyone feel at home. Jane found joy in tending to her home and gardens, soaking up the sunshine, summers at Point O’ Woods Beach in Old Lyme, family vacations and expressing herself through fashion.
Above all else, Jane’s greatest joy was her family and her role as “Oma.” Her eight grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Jane was the heart of the Morgan home — a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, and a thoughtful, caring friend to all who knew her.
Jane is survived by her three sons: William Samuel Morgan and his wife Jessica, and their children Samantha and Evelyn, of Lyman, ME; Jonathan Fay Morgan and his wife Lisa, and their children Harper and Easton, of South Glastonbury; and James Adam Morgan and his wife Colleen, and their children Jack, Chase, Julia, and Elizabeth, of Wethersfield. She is also survived by her brother, Gijs Jager, and her sister, Joke Jager, both of Holland.
Jane leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and resilience. Even as she bravely battled ALS over the past eight months, she continued to inspire those around her with grace and courage. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and all whose lives she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Jane’s life will be held Wednesday, January 7, at 10:00 a.m. directly in Corpus Christi Church of Christ the King Parish, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. The Morgan family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made in Jane’s name to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209 or online at als.org.
