

John Joseph Casey, 66, died peacefully on Saturday, (April 25, 2009) at his home in Newington. John was born in Hartford on July 13, 1942, the son of the late William R. and Elizabeth (Suppicich) Casey. He graduated from Wethersfield High School as class president in 1960. He attended Northeastern University and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1968 with a degree in electrical engineering. It was at LSU that he met Caroline Rae Robinson Casey to whom he was married for 26 years until her passing in 1995. They resided in Wethersfield where they raised their three sons; Timothy, Jeremiah and Christopher. John spent his professional career with United Technologies Corporation at their International Fuel Cell division, before retiring in 2001. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Diane LaFountain Casey, to whom he was married for seven years until her passing in 2006. John is survived by his sons; Timothy and his wife Heidi of Boulder, CO; Jeremiah and his wife Chelley of Boston; Christopher and his fiancé, Bonnie Griswold, of Wethersfield; and his granddaughter, Haylie Rae, of Wethersfield, who was the light of his life. He also leaves his brother, William Casey and his wife Kathleen of Glastonbury; his godmother, Dorothy Suppicich of Wethersfield; and many aunts, nieces and cousins whom he loved dearly. John had a passion for golf that was surpassed only by the joy he had playing the game with his many golf buddies. John's family is grateful for the wonderful professional care and support he received from all of his caregivers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 2 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Family and friends may gather on Friday, May 1, 4-8 p.m. at D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
