
John E. 'Jack' Silliman, Sr., 88, of Wethersfield, husband of the late Isabelle (Collette) Silliman, died Saturday, (June 7, 2008) at Bristol Hospital. He was born in Hartford, February 12, 1920 and was the son of the late Frederick W. and Bridget (Mulvihill) Silliman. Jack was employed by the Connecticut Transit Company and retired many years ago. He was a proud, World War II, US Army veteran. He served as a Radio Operator High Speed overseas for 24 months with the 142nd Armored Signal Corps, 2nd Armored Division in the European Theatre of Operations. Jack was a member of the VFW, Post # 254, Hartford. He enjoyed Duck Pin Bowling and was an avid golfer. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his son, John E. 'Jack' Silliman, Jr. and Betty Lemmon of Jacksonville, FL; and his daughter, Barbara J. Silliman of Bristol, with whom he recently made his home. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Christian Sergeant and his wife, Andrea of Rocky Hill, and Colleen Miller and her husband, Peter of Bristol; and four great grandchildren, Connor, Michael, Ryan, and Christopher. Funeral service will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield with Full Military Honors. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
