

Joseph F. Cirigliano, Jr., 87 years of age, passed on Thursday (August 19, 2010) after a short battle with cancer and the recent loss of his beloved son Bryan. He was a strong husband to his wife Angela (Angelillo) and father to his sons Michael, Joseph F. III and Nicholas. In addition, he leaves his daughters-in-law Marie, Debbie and Patty and his grandchildren Michael, Jr., Adam, Megan, Joseph F. IV, Lindsay and Jaime and a great-grandchild, Jordan. A longtime delivery man known as “Soda Joe” he owned a Canada Dry soda franchise before moving on to Harford Distributors Inc. in Manchester and retiring some 20 years ago. Born in Hartford on August 22, 1923, Joe was one of the eight children of Joseph F. and Carmella (Scopetta) Cirigliano, Sr. He is survived by his sister Mary. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific on Saipan, part of the Mariana Islands. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family and relaxing in his home of 43 years in Newington watching the Red Sox and the NY football Giants.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday (August 23) at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Burial with full military honors will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
