Joseph Mazzarella

Joseph Mazzarella, 84, of Hartford, beloved husband of Nancy (DiMauro) Mazzarella, died Friday, (January 5, 2007) at Backus Hospital in Norwich. Born in Floridia, Siracusa, Italy, he was a Detective with the Italian Police from 1940 to 1949. He immigrated and was a resident of Hartford since 1949. He was a self-employed mason, stone and fireplace contractor for over 30 years, retiring 17 years ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters and two sons: Josephine Schessauer of Switzerland and husband Hans-Peter, Salvatore Mazzarella of Bozrah and wife Dawn and grandchildren Joseph and Deborah, Paul Mazzarella of Norwich and wife Beth and granddaughters Rachael, Rebecca and Stephanie, Dora Rafala of Oregon and husband Michael and grandchildren Kevin, Steven and Michelle and Mary Porter of Lisbon and husband Christian and grandchildren Tiffany and Christian Jr. He also leaves a brother, Sebastian Mazzarella of Como, Italy. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church, 511 Maple St., Wethersfield. (All those attending go directly go to church). Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
