

Josephine (Falconieri) Cancellieri, 80, of Wethersfield, beloved mother, grandmother and wife of the late Salvatore J. Cancellieri, died peacefully Monday (January 21, 2008). She was born September 25, 1927, in Vittoria, Sicily, Italy, the daughter of the late Biagio and Maria Falconieri. Josephine was employed by Arrow Hart for 15 years prior to working and retiring from the State of Connecticut, Department of Health. She was an officer of the St. Lucy Society, a member of the Order of the Sons of Italy, the Incarnation Women's Club, and the Seniors Club of Wethersfield. Her greatest joy was cooking and visiting with her family and socializing with her many friends. Josephine was also an avid UCONN women's basketball fan. She is survived by two sons: John R. Cancellieri of Glastonbury and Eugene J. Cancellieri and his wife Nadine of Glastonbury; a sister Delizia Gentile and her husband Joseph of Largo, FL; two sisters-in-law: Delizia Conochalla of Old Saybrook and Angie Cafaro of Largo, FL; and three grandchildren: John R. Cancellieri Jr. and his wife Leigh of Medford, MA, Christina Conoscenti and her husband Christopher of Coventry and Caitlin Cancellieri of Glastonbury. Josephine was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Lee Ann Cancellieri. Josephine's family extends a special thanks to the nurses and doctors at St. Francis Medical Center and Ellis Manor Nursing Home for their wonderful care and compassion. Funeral services will leave Thursday, January 24, at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel with a Sons of Italy prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Donations in Josephine's memory may be made to the St. Francis Cancer Center, 114 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105.
