Josephine “Nana” (Fiume) Tabshey, 93, of Rocky Hill, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020, with her children and grandchildren by her side, and her favorite song Avé Maria playing in the background. Our mother was called home by God and is back with her beloved husband, Francis J. Tabshey, who passed away in 1981. She is also predeceased by her beautiful granddaughter, Allison Tabshey and great grandson, Brayden Campbell. They are now all reunited in heaven in eternal peace.
Josephine leaves behind her five children, Laurie Miskunas and her husband Paul, Ann Marie Stewart and her husband Kevin, John Tabshey and his wife Maggie, William Tabshey and his wife Marilyn and Robert Tabshey and his wife Tami. Josephine always referred to her grandchildren as the “jewels and joy” of her life, revered by all of them; Lindsay, Kelly, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Patrick, Nicholas, Amanda, Emily, Scott, Tim, Nick, Frank, Julie and Jennifer. She was truly loved by her great grandchildren; Bryce, Brooke, Brynn, Taylor, Addie, AJ, Alaina, Landon, Ava and Olivia. Josephine was born in Hartford, daughter of Sebastian and Concetta Fiume, on August 7, 1927. Her children were the focus of her life, she devoted herself completely to her family, was a devout Christian, loved cooking for her family, reading her books and traveling with friends. After her husband Frank passed away, she went to work at the Aetna, where she became very close to so many wonderful people who loved her so much. We are forever grateful for all the lives she touched over her long, happy life. We want to express our sincere thanks to her caregivers, Ina, Jeanina and Agnes, who gave her the best care each and every day and became part of our family.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands laid to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Nana, rest in heavenly, eternal peace.
