Leah L. (Shea) Wallace, 78, of East Hartford, beloved wife of 45 years to the late James W. Wallace, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Gardiner, Maine, on September 12, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Susie Shea.
Leah was a dedicated homemaker, pouring her heart and soul into creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. She also spent many years as a beloved waitress at the Diamond Restaurant in Glastonbury, where her friendly demeanor and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Leah was also deeply dedicated to her faith and her church family, finding strength in her spiritual life.
In retirement, Leah cherished every moment with her family, especially her grandchildren, Emma and Ethan, who brought boundless joy into her life. She also found solace in the companionship of her beloved dogs, "Little Guy" and “Olaf” as well as in birdwatching in her backyard. Her kindness and generosity extended beyond her own family. Leah held a special place in her heart for the children in her neighborhood, always welcoming them into her home with open arms for snacks and warm conversation. A treasured fixture of her neighborhood, Leah could often be spotted peeking through her curtains like a neighborhood watch committee of one, ensuring that every dog walker, mail carrier, and suspicious squirrel knew they were under her watchful gaze.
Leah's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her devoted son, Christopher Wallace, his wife Joy and their children Emma and Ethan of South Windsor. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are welcome to celebrate Leah's life on Friday, May 3, commencing at 4:00 p.m. at D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, located at 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Following a time for visitation, a heartfelt Words of Remembrance ceremony will ensue at 5:30 p.m., providing an opportunity for cherished memories of Leah to be shared among friends and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Leah's memory are gratefully accepted by the Dementia Society of America. (https://www.dementiasociety.org/).
