

On Saturday, November 16, 2013, our beloved Lucy (Romano) Guerrera, 71, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Salvatore Guerrera, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise (Pezzente) Romano and lived in Wethersfield for more than 47 years. For the past 23 years Lucy and Sal enjoyed their winters in Pompano Beach, FL where they have many close friends. Lucy, so full of life, loved late night trips to the casino, flea markets, bus trips to New York, working at Card Hall and traveling. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends during those cross country trips to Las Vegas, California and other places along life’s path. Loni, Joe, Pat, Junior, Rick and Patty …. How did we do it? Besides her husband of 52 years, Salvatore Guerrera, Lucy is survived by four cherished children; two sons, Michael Guerrera of Newington, Sal Guerrera and wife Robin of Middlebury; two daughters, AnnMarie Ritter and husband James of Wethersfield, Paula Guerrera and husband, Jeff Rizzo of Wethersfield; two brothers, Richard Peluso and his wife Kathy of Alaska and Ben Romano and Judy McElhiney of Newington; an aunt, Elizabeth Charbonneau of East Hartford, an uncle, Charles Pezzente of Glastonbury; her adored grandchildren, Steven, Nico, Dean, Sarah, Samantha, Patrick, Katie and Jeffrey as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the staff of VNA Hospice, especially to Shawn, Juliette, Kelly, Katie, Ann, Joyce and Megan and a special thanks to Judy McElhiney, our family angel. You helped to make the unbearable bearable. Your loving wisdom and kindness gave us strength, courage and dignity to fulfill Lucy’s wishes. Thank You! The funeral will be Wednesday (November 20) beginning at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel.
