

Maria (Costanzo) Amenta, 97, of Hartford, wife of the late Paolo Amenta, died peacefully, Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Apple Rehab of Rocky Hill with her devoted family by her bedside. She was born November 2, 1914 in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa, Italy and was the daughter of the late Michele and Lucia (Farina) Costanzo. Maria was a seamstress and was last employed by the former Manchester Modes, retiring many years ago. She will always be remembered by her family as being a strong willed and courageous woman who raised three loving daughters. She is survived by three daughters, Lucia Amenta, Sebastiana “Nella” Gulino and Concetta “Tina” Farina and husband, Antonio all of Wethersfield, grandchildren; Lucia Gulino, Michael “Tony” Farina, Angela Taylor and husband, Dean and Paolo Gulino and wife, Pina, great grandchildren, Nicole, Jonathan and Ashley Farina, Cassidy, Mia and Phoebe Taylor and Sebby, Alex and Gabriella Gulino as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Sebastiano, Paolo and Salvatore Costanzo, a sister, Paola Cassarino and her son-in-law, Pasquale Gulino. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Apple Rehab for the care and compassion shown to Maria and her family. Funeral service will be Monday at 8:15 am at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton Street, Hartford. The burial will be in Italy. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-7 pm at the funeral chapel.
