Maria (Cabral) Pina, 53, of Ellington, beloved wife for 27 years of Joseph Pina, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023. Born in Trancoselos, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal on May 28, 1969, she was the daughter of Arlindo Cabral of Portugal and the late Ilda Cabral. Maria worked for 30 years in the corporate offices of Bank of America.
Maria had a strong charismatic personally that touched anyone that she met. Life for Maria wasn’t about herself or material things. She was a dedicated, hard-working mother and wife. Her interest was providing for the family. She shared her mother’s passion for cooking and baking; in the little spare time she had Maria cooked delicious Portuguese recipes. She was extremely proud of her Portuguese heritage! During her 5-year long battle with cancer she grew in faith, spent time in God’s word and doing his will. By supporting, strengthening and guiding many others who are fighting the same battle.
A loving wife and mother, Maria will be forever missed by her devoted husband Joseph and her two adored sons, Justin Pina and Nicholas Pina, both of Ellington. She is also survived by her brother, Antonio “Tony” Cabral and wife Maria of Newington, as well as a host of dear extended family members and friends. During her last few days, she thanked her large extended family for accepting her as part of the family and was very proud and honored be part of it.
Special thanks to our families for their support and prayers, including her work family and Christian prayer groups prayers. Maria received prayers from coast to coast and Portugal.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 5th from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Kane Street, Hartford.
