Maria Santana

Maria Mercado- Santana, 92 of Hartford Connecticut passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on March 5, 2023 born in Añasco Puerto Rico on August 18, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Leoncia Crespo and Estanilao Mendez. She was married to the late Arcadio Santana. Maria was the devoted mother of 13, of which 9 are currently living and 4 have passed.

Her children are Miguel Mercado (Pucho), The late Mario Mercado, Juan A Mercado (Juani), Maria Mendez (Boli), Luis Mercado (Shorty), Gilberto Mercado, the late Teresa Mercado, Iris Mercado Diaz, Juan D Mercado (Papo) and the youngest Anibal Rivera (Tito). She is also survived by 30 grand children, 60 great grand children and 20 great, great grand children. Her brothers and sisters Cecilia, Carmelo, Luis, Francisca, Carmen and Nelson.

Maria enjoyed being with her family and preaching the word of God. She could not read or write but everything that was shared with her she remembered. Maria suffered from Alzheimers disease for the last 15 years of her life but was cared for by her loving son Gilberto Mercado until she took her last breath.

We will remember her smile, laughter and love towards her family. We thank God for giving us the opportunity to have her with us for this long.

Family and friends are invited on March 09, 2023 from 10:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M for a Celebration of her life at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, CT. Burial services will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, in Bloomfield, CT.
